Best Dash Cams for the GMC Sierra (2007–2025)
Short answer: for a dash cam that looks like GMC installed it, get the FitCamX built for your Sierra's years — the 2020–2025 unit for current trucks including Denali and AT4 (from $189), the 2015–2020 unit (from $189), or the 2007–2014 unit (from $169.99). Each one mounts at your rearview mirror, records 4K, and keeps the wiring hidden. The catch on 2020–2025 trucks: there are four different mirror covers, and you tell them apart by counting vents. This guide shows you how.

Our verdict · Best Overall for the Sierra
For a 2020–2025 Sierra 1500, 2500HD or 3500HD, the FitCamX 2020–2025 fitment is the pick: 54 owner reviews averaging 4.89 stars, a 4K front camera, and plug-and-play power if your truck has an auto-dimming mirror. The one decision you can't undo later is the rear camera — FitCamX says it can't be added to a front-only unit afterward, so if you'll ever want rear coverage, buy the 4K front + rear version ($269) from the start.

Which One Fits Your Sierra?
Three year-specific fitments. Prices are FitCamX's listed prices at the time of writing (September 2026) and change with their sales.
Notice that 2020 appears in two rows. FitCamX lists 2020 under both the 2015–2020 and 2020–2025 fitments, so on a 2020 truck, go by the cover — not the year — using the steps below.
How to Identify Your Mirror Cover
2020–2025: count the vents
Look at the plastic cover around the base of your rearview mirror. FitCamX's identification photos separate the four 2020–2025 models like this:
- HD2-4925 — two groups of vents on the cover: a row of 6 and a row of 8.
- HD2-6272 — just 3 small vent slots on the side of the cover.
- HD2-9135 — 5 vents on the front end of the cover.
- HD2-6275 — no big cover at all; the mirror hangs from a bare mount on the glass.
All four cost the same. If you're unsure, take a photo from below the mirror — FitCamX asks for one anyway.
2015–2020: check the cover part number
The 2015–2020 unit (HD2-5213) replaces the original GMC plastic cover with part number 22775213 — FitCamX shows that exact cover in its before-and-after photos. The same fitment covers the Canyon and Yukon from these years.
2007–2014: no cover, plug into the mirror
Older Sierras and Yukons without a large cover take the HD2-6275 (16-pin) unit, which mounts at the mirror base and plugs into the auto-dimming mirror's wiring.
Power: auto-dimming mirror or fuse box
On the 2020–2025 fitment, FitCamX states that trucks with an auto-dimming rearview mirror get plug-and-play power; without one, the camera needs power from the fuse box. The 2015–2020 and 2007–2014 fitments are listed as only compatible with auto-dimming mirrors. It's the same mirror check that matters on the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500.
Then send the photo when FitCamX asks
FitCamX emails you after purchase to confirm your model and mirror cover and asks for a photo, then ships within 3 days of confirmation. Skipping the photo can delay shipping or send a model that doesn't fit. A 2015–2020 owner specifically praised this pre-shipping check for making sure the right product was sent.
The Three Sierra Fitments
All three run the same FitCamX camera platform, so they share the 8.5 score we gave FitCamX in our main dash cam roundup. Our evaluation is based on FitCamX's published specifications, identification photos and policies, the 62 customer reviews across the Sierra listings, and comparison against the universal-mount cameras in our main guide. We have not personally installed a Sierra unit.

Reviews54 · 4.89★
From$189
This is the Sierra listing with real owner depth — 54 reviews averaging 4.89 stars — and it covers the light-duty 1500 and the 2500HD/3500HD heavy-duty trucks, including Denali and AT4 trims. The camera replaces the cover at your mirror base with a housing shaped like the original, records 4K, and locks footage when its G-sensor detects a collision. Power comes plug-to-plug from an auto-dimming mirror, or from the fuse box on trucks without one.
Owner reports are consistently positive about the finished look. A 2024 Sierra 3500HD AT4 owner said it installed "nice and clean," looks like a factory camera, and appreciated that viewing videos in the app doesn't require signing up for a third-party service. Another owner credited the installation video for an easy install in a 2026 Sierra 2500HD AT4. One reviewer noted that some owners report trouble snapping the replacement cover into place — their fix was tucking the wires out of the way and seating the top of the cover before the bottom.
Pros
- Largest Sierra owner base: 54 reviews, 4.89★
- Covers 1500, 2500HD and 3500HD including Denali and AT4
- Works without an auto-dimming mirror via fuse-box power
Cons
- Four cover models — you must count vents to order correctly
- Rear camera can't be added to a front-only unit later
- Some owners find seating the replacement cover fiddly

2. FitCamX for 2015–2020 GMC Sierra, Canyon & Yukon
Best for 2015–2020 Trucks
Fits2015–2020 GMC
ModelHD2-5213
CoverPart 22775213
Reviews8 · 4.75★
From$189
One fitment covers the 2015–2020 Sierra along with the Canyon and Yukon from the same years, replacing the original cover (part 22775213) with a camera housing. It's listed as compatible only with trucks that have an auto-dimming rearview mirror, which supplies the power.
The owner feedback is honest about the install. One owner praised the camera and app but found the connectors difficult to fit. Another, who ordered four cameras, rated the camera five stars but the instructions and ease of installation three stars — cramming the wires and adapter into the housing was the hard part. Budget extra time, or an installer, if you're not comfortable working in tight spaces.
Pros
- One fitment for Sierra, Canyon and Yukon of the same years
- Clear identification by cover part number
- Owners rate the camera and app highly
Cons
- Only works with an auto-dimming mirror
- Owners report a tight, fiddly install and weak instructions
- Small review base (8)

From$169.99
Older Sierras and Yukons get the lowest prices of the three fitments — $169.99 for 4K front-only. Because these trucks don't have a large cover around the mirror, the camera mounts at the mirror base and plugs into the auto-dimming mirror's wiring, so nothing runs down the A-pillar.
The trade-off is track record: this listing is recent and has no owner reviews yet. Lean on FitCamX's photo confirmation step, and make sure your truck has an auto-dimming mirror before ordering.
Pros
- Lowest price of the Sierra fitments ($169.99)
- Plug-to-plug power from the mirror — no fuse-box work
- Gives older trucks the same 4K front camera
Cons
- Needs an auto-dimming mirror
- No owner reviews yet

Choosing Your Configuration
Decide on the rear camera now
Every Sierra fitment comes as 4K front-only (64GB), 1440p front + 1080p rear (64GB), or 4K front + 1080p rear (128GB). FitCamX states on these listings that the rear camera can't be added separately — its STARVIS 2 listing explains that front-only and dual units use different chipsets, so adding rear coverage later means replacing the whole set. If there's any chance you'll want a rear camera, buy the 4K dual now. If you're sure you won't, 4K front-only is the best value.
Standard or STARVIS 2 (2020–2025 only)?
2020–2025 owners can also choose a STARVIS 2 version ($289 front-only, $369 with 2K rear) with a Sony IMX678 sensor, HDR on front and rear, 5.8GHz WiFi, and time-lapse or motion-detection parking modes. It's new, with no owner reviews yet. The standard unit is the better value for most owners; STARVIS 2 is for heavy night driving or owners who plan to hardwire for parking surveillance.
Parking mode needs the fuse box
Parking mode requires a hardwired fuse-box installation, and the hardwire kit is sold separately. The standard unit's parking mode records when it detects a collision rather than continuously.
Viewing clips with CarPlay or Android Auto
The camera records without your phone, so CarPlay and Android Auto work normally while you drive. FitCamX notes that to view or download videos, you disconnect Bluetooth and connect to the camera's WiFi in the app.
Shipping and warranty
After the photo confirmation, FitCamX ships within 3 days and quotes 8–12 working days for standard shipping. Their policy covers manufacturing defects for 12 months from purchase, with a free replacement and FitCamX paying the freight; the warranty ends if you sell or transfer the camera.
Driving a Chevy Silverado instead?
FitCamX sells a separate listing for the 2022–2026 Chevy Silverado 1500, 2500HD, 3500HD and EV, at the same $189–$269 pricing — see our Silverado, Tahoe & Suburban guide. For universal options that fit any truck, see our main dash cam guide.
GMC Sierra Dash Cam FAQ
Which model fits my 2020–2025 Sierra?
Count the vents on the cover around your mirror base. A row of 6 and a row of 8 vents means HD2-4925; 3 small vent slots on the side means HD2-6272; 5 vents on the front end means HD2-9135; no large cover at all means HD2-6275. All four cost the same, and FitCamX confirms from a photo before shipping.
I have a 2020 Sierra. Which listing do I use?
FitCamX lists 2020 under both the 2015–2020 and 2020–2025 fitments, so go by the cover. If your cover is the original GMC part 22775213, use the 2015–2020 unit; if it matches one of the four vent patterns, use the 2020–2025 unit.
Does it work without an auto-dimming mirror?
On 2020–2025 trucks, yes — FitCamX says trucks without an auto-dimming mirror need power from the fuse box instead of plugging in. The 2015–2020 and 2007–2014 fitments are listed as compatible only with auto-dimming mirrors.
Can I add a rear camera later?
No. FitCamX states the rear camera can't be added separately, because front-only and dual units use different chipsets — you'd have to replace the whole set. Buy the dual version up front if you might want rear coverage.
Does it fit the Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD?
Yes, for 2020–2025 trucks — that listing names the Sierra 1500, 2500HD and 3500HD, including Denali and AT4. Owners report installs in a 2024 Sierra 3500HD AT4 and a 2026 Sierra 2500HD AT4.
Is the install difficult?
Owners of 2020–2025 trucks generally describe it as easy with the installation video, though some find seating the replacement cover fiddly. Owners of 2015–2020 trucks report a tighter install, with connectors and wiring hard to fit into the housing.
What warranty does FitCamX offer?
12 months from purchase for manufacturing defects, with a free replacement and FitCamX paying the freight. The warranty ends if you sell or transfer the product.
Final Verdict
The bottom line · Match the cover, decide on the rear camera
For Sierra owners, the camera is the same across generations — the work is matching the cover. On a 2020–2025 truck, count the vents to pick among four models; on a 2015–2020, look for cover part 22775213; on a 2007–2014, confirm your auto-dimming mirror. Then make the one decision you can't change later: 4K front-only at $189 if you'll never want rear coverage, or 4K front + rear at $269 if you might.
